Mandate of the Commission
- Review the area, boundaries and names of the 27 electoral districts.
- In conducting the review consider:
- the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms;
- enumeration data from the September 29, 2003 general election;
- existing polling divisions;
- geographical features of the districts;
- population patterns;
- communities of interest;
- municipal boundaries,
- other relevant factors
- The number of electors in each district shall not be more than 25% above nor
more than 25% below the average number of electors in all 27 districts which is
presently 3,600.
- Report to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly within six months, with provision for a three month extension.
