Mandate of the Commission

  1. Review the area, boundaries and names of the 27 electoral districts.
  2. In conducting the review consider:
    • the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms;
    • enumeration data from the September 29, 2003 general election;
    • existing polling divisions;
    • geographical features of the districts;
    • population patterns;
    • communities of interest;
    • municipal boundaries,
    • other relevant factors
  3. The number of electors in each district shall not be more than 25% above nor more than 25% below the average number of electors in all 27 districts which is presently 3,600.
  4. Report to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly within six months, with provision for a three month extension.
